MAS Holds a Workshop on TVET
Wednesday, 18 February, 2015, Ramallah. The Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS) held a workshop to present a recent study titled “Implementing the National TVET Strategy: A Prerequisite for Meeting the Labor Market Needs”. This paper, written by Eng. Hisham Kuhail, is the second in a series of studies aiming at producing review articles that take stock of previous work done on important economic and social policy issues that touch on Palestinian development and that have been often revisited over the past two decades but where no closure has been reached. This review will be followed by a third one that will address Palestine’s efforts to accede to the World Trade Organization, written by Mr. Raja Khalidi.
The importance of the present study is derived from the need to compile, assess, and provide critical review of existing studies on TVET in order to propose recommendations that would minimize unemployment among graduates. These recommendations take into consideration that although vocational and technical education can help in creating job opportunities, they are not given enough attention compared to academic education, which attracts the vast majority of students.
