Status Update- Nov 2025: Rapid Capacity Assessment of Gaza Strip’s Municipalities
The workshop will take place on Wednesday, 28 January 2026, between 11:00 and 13:00 at MAS Building – Al Masyoun, Mouin Bseisso Street, Ramallah
This study presents a rapid assessment of municipal capacities and war-related damages across all 25 municipalities in the Gaza Strip. It is an update of the previous assessment prepared by MAS as part of the “Transparency, Evidence, Efficiency, Effectiveness and Accountability TEA³ Programme” implemented by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP)/Programme of Assistance to the Palestinian People (UNDP/PAPP), with funding from the British Consulate General-Jerusalem (FCDO), Swedish International Development Cooperation Agency (Sida) and Australian Government Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT).
The study aims to assess recent operational capacities of Gaza’s municipalities in the post-war context, monitor damages to infrastructure and public services, and analyze gaps in human capital and financial resources. This will provide a realistic and up-to-date view of the municipalities' conditions, identify their urgent needs, and estimate recovery costs. Ultimately, it will support the prioritization of immediate interventions in basic service delivery and inform planning processes for recovery.
