Senior Researcher in Economics


Palestine Economic Policy Research Institute (MAS) was founded in Jerusalem in 1994 as an independent, non-profit institution to contribute to the socio-economic policy-making process in Palestine byconducting economic and social policy research. MAS is governed by a Board of Trustees consisting of prominentacademics, businesspeople, and other distinguished individuals from Palestine and the Arab countries. In fulfilling its mission, MAS is dedicated to producing sound and innovative policy research, relevant to the economic and social development process in Palestine, with the aim of assisting policy-makers and fostering public participation in the formulation of economic and social policies.
MAS is currently seeking to employ a Senior Researcher in Economics to join the Institute’s staff
Job Responsibilities:
Position Overview:
Candidates must have extensive and proven experience in the field of economic and/ or socio-economic research. Successful candidates should be able to manage, supervise, and lead research teams , and assume a leadership role in managing day-to-day operations for multiple research projects.
Main Duties and Responsibilities: (Other duties may occasionally be assigned)
  • Undertaking high-quality, policy-oriented economic and/or socio-economic research relevant to the Palestinian context.
  • Supervise research projects and programs.
  • Formulate research based policy recommendations for public bodies and other relevant stakeholders..
  • Organizing disseminating research findings and policy recommendations through roundtables, workshops, seminars, conferences, and other public meetings.
  •  Assist in supervising and guiding the work of mid-level and junior researchers.
  • Proven experience in conducting desk and field research.
  • Proven analytical skills, with knowledge of Middle Eastern economies and the socio-economic and political conditions in Palestine.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with management, other senior researchers, mid- level staff, junior researchers, public and private sector stakeholders, and donors.
  •  Excellent writing and reporting skills in English and Arabic (English Proficiency is a plus)
Education and Experience:

  • PhD degree in Economics
  • At least 5 years of experience as a full-time researcher, with a record of relevant research and publications.
