The International Investment Position of Palestine amounted to $1,234 million at the end of the last quarter of 2014, which means that once again the Palestinian economy invested abroad significantly more than what other economies invested in Palestine. External assets, or Palestinian investments abroad, equaled $5,950 million. Two thirds of them were other foreign investments, mostly currency and deposits. Meanwhile, foreign liabilities, or foreign investments in Palestine, were $4,716 million. More than half of them were foreign direct investments. The banking sector contributed the most to both external assets (74% of the total) and foreign liabilities (32% of the total).
