A total of 2,144 building licenses were issued in Palestine in Q4/2014. This marks a 5.1% increase from the previous quarter and a minor rise of 0.3% from the corresponding quarter of 2013. The vast majority of licenses were issued in the West Bank: 2,112, while only 32 licenses were issued in the Gaza Strip. In terms of utilization, as many as 1,950 licenses were for residential buildings. With regards to ownership, nearly all (2,120) licenses issued were meant for private constructions, 21 for the central government and local authority buildings, and 3 for charity purposes.
